Safe Facilities for Child Development

By improving physical infrastructure in residential care settings, children experience safer and more supportive environments for development, because secure, healthy, and well-maintained facilities reduce health risks, enhance psychological well-being, and create conditions conducive to learning and growth. This strategy focuses on upgrading critical infrastructure—such as electrical, water, and ventilation systems—and constructing new facilities to ensure the safety and long-term development of orphaned and vulnerable children. Unlike programs that focus solely on education or healthcare services, this approach addresses the foundational environmental conditions necessary for holistic child development within residential care settings.
