Gender-Responsive Media Development

By integrating gender equity into media systems and leadership pipelines, media becomes more inclusive and representative, because diverse voices lead to more equitable information ecosystems that better serve marginalized audiences. This strategy centers gender equity as a foundational element of media development, going beyond surface-level representation to transform organizational practices, leadership opportunities, and content creation processes. Unlike general diversity initiatives, it applies an intentional equity lens to journalism, technology, and policy, ensuring that women and girls—particularly from underrepresented communities—shape and benefit from information systems. It is distinct in targeting both media producers and information infrastructures to create systemic change.
