Food-Is-Medicine

By integrating food and nutrition as clinical interventions within healthcare delivery, we improve health outcomes and reduce healthcare utilization, because proper nutrition is a treatable, foundational determinant of health that directly influences disease progression, treatment efficacy, and patient resilience. This strategy treats food not just as sustenance but as a prescribed, evidence-based component of medical care—particularly for individuals with chronic or complex conditions. It is distinct from general nutrition education or food access initiatives because it emphasizes clinical integration, such as physician involvement, medically tailored meals, and alignment with treatment plans, positioning food as a therapeutic tool on par with medication.
