Controlled Disruption Training

By introducing small, intentional disruptions, children with autism develop greater flexibility and reduced anxiety, because repeated exposure to manageable change builds adaptive coping mechanisms. This strategy leverages principles of behavioral desensitization by simulating low-stakes "crises" in a supportive environment, allowing children to practice navigating change without overwhelming stress. Unlike passive support models, this approach is proactive—systematically building resilience through experiential learning. It is distinct from general behavioral therapy by focusing specifically on controlled unpredictability as a core training mechanism.
