Short Creek Community Center is a nonprofit corporation that was created to provide affordable access to space for theater, fine arts, and other large community gatherings within the Short Creek Community. Short Creek is a term to identify the extremely underserved, impoverished border area of Colorado City AZ, Hildale UT, and the surrounding area. This community has undergone a traumatic past of radical religious influence, which has contributed to high prevalence of poverty, depression, chronic and genetic disease, alcoholism and substance abuse, suicide, and other undesirable characteristics. As of now, there is been no publicly available space available for fine arts and theatrical performances, which is a great community need, especially among the local youth. The purpose and mission of this nonprofit organization is to provide and improve the access of space for these types of activities, which will be instrumental in the unification, healing, and engagement of the community.
